Why do the French refuse to pronounce the last half of their words?
For example, Foucault is pronounced Fŭcō. Why is this? Why in the world
is “ault” pronounced as a long “O“?

Why do the French refuse to pronounce the last half of their words?
For example, Foucault is pronounced Fŭcō. Why is this? Why in the world
is “ault” pronounced as a long “O“?
I hate language.
That’s why I studied Spanish: it’s 100% phonetic. You can pronounce any word just by sounding it out.
I don’t know why all languages are not constructed and spoken that way.
