It is almost comical (pun?) how the writer's have to explain why Superman doesn't just "fix" all of the problems. Esp in things like Identity crisis and Omac Project. They always seem to have to address it.

Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('1137','Henry Imler','
It is almost comical (pun?) how the writer\'s have to explain why Superman doesn\'t just \"fix\" all of the problems. Esp in things like Identity crisis and Omac Project. They always seem to have to address it.<\/p>'); return false;">Quote

The Killing Joke was one of the best Batman or DC books I have read, right after Long Halloween and Dark Victory. I mean Joker shoots Barbra Gordon right in front of her dad and nearly ends the career of Batgirl! Hush was a great pair of volumes.
yeah i feel the same, I wanted to like infinite crisis, but I think Civil War did a job of giving you the basics of every character and then telling a story, instead of a story for every character without a unified sense of direction. I also would like to see Superman become straight. jk, he does need to act like the Bad A he is and take the reigns.
Reply - Quote

Most the Batman stuff I have read (Monster Men, Mad Monk, The Joke thing, The Long Halloween, etc) has been really really good. Not campy, yet still escapist and fun. I really like the detective angle that they emphasize. Now, some stuff is convoluted crap, such as Cataclyism, but not much.

I am also reading the Sinestro Wars, a Green Lantern series. That one is pretty good.

What else?

Crisis on Infinite Earths - long, sometimes did not make sense, and required so much minute character knowledge to make sense;

Identify Crisis and Omac Project - classics;

Infinite Crisis - so so, with a weak ending (rouge superman, anyone?) although the end of that one is priceless;

Superman, Red Son - perhaps the best thing I have ever read

Kingdom Come - very good, but the art is better than the quality of the narrative.

In sum, DC has some good stuff going for it. Marvel is better in a way that I can't quite describe, however.

Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('1119','Henry Imler','
Most the Batman stuff I have read (Monster Men, Mad Monk, The Joke thing, The Long Halloween, etc) has been really really good. Not campy, yet still escapist and fun. I really like the detective angle that they emphasize. Now, some stuff is convoluted crap, such as Cataclyism, but not much.<\/p>\r\n
I am also reading the Sinestro Wars, a Green Lantern series. That one is pretty good.<\/p>\r\n
What else?<\/p>\r\n
Crisis on Infinite Earths - long, sometimes did not make sense, and required so much minute character knowledge to make sense;<\/p>\r\n
Identify Crisis and Omac Project - classics;<\/p>\r\n
Infinite Crisis - so so, with a weak ending (rouge superman, anyone?) although the end of that one is priceless;<\/p>\r\n
Superman, Red Son - perhaps the best thing I have ever read<\/p>\r\n
Kingdom Come - very good, but the art is better than the quality of the narrative.<\/p>\r\n
 <\/p>\r\n
In sum, DC has some good stuff going for it. Marvel is better in a way that I can\'t quite describe, however.<\/p>'); return false;">Quote

wow, that's better than the two bruises on Jan's face. I read crisis through a couple times and found the story to be rushed and cramed, and to be honest a little non-sensical. what's your opinion on DC?
Reply - Quote
