So does the first cartoon imply that there is some kind of truth higher than what people vote for being right?
It can be taken a few ways. One is a dig at Carter, another is the risks you take with democracy. I am sure there are others.
I think of the big problems with democracy now is that people believe
that the majority is always right, whether by vote or by accepted idea.
Of course if this is true, than minorities are left out in the cold. Of
course if there is an absolute truth, then minorities are protected,
because the majority is not always right.
Well Smiles, what is the method whereby you get to that truth? What kind of government are you advocating here?
There is a danger inherent in democracy/republics, one that I think saw
fruitation a few days ago - “Sometimes the masses make bad decisions”.
There is not a form of government that is immune to weakness. I think
that it is harder, perhaps hardest for democracies/republics to make
bad decisions out of all the government types.
